Sugar will consume your soul

Okay, so this is one of those blogs I always say I’m going to start and then maybe I create it and never do anything with it.

Though it will be part of my New Years Resolution to maintain this blog. People change their resolutions all the time! Though I still vow to lose ten pounds and write a book, keeping a blog I think is just as challenging.

I think I have a good start on the weight loss. The flu helped in a really messed up way of forcing me to not eat the normal crap I ingest on a daily basis. So I’m teetering on the edge of going back to like it ‘was’ and maintaining some semblance of discipline in what I shove into my face.

I just love latte’s so damn much.

Who am I kidding? Mom would say it’s the sugar. And she’s probably right. She’s usually right. I love sugar and the thing about sugar is it’s got these really long, evil claws that just dig in and you can’t escape. You can’t. I mean it in the most practical way too. Sugar is in EVERYTHING.

It would be crazy to attempt to not eat any sugar. I don’t know if I could do it. I would have to allow myself fruits. I love apples way too much to not allow myself to eat those. Perhaps I could challenge myself to anything with unnatural sugar should not be consumed.

As I say this one of my coworkers walk in “I brought brownies for everyone!”

Sigh. See. Everywhere.

Same problem at work. Customers bring us cookies and candy, most of what is brought in is just junk. And now, the moment you walk in, you're just HUNGRY. Work is the worst for diets.

And I don't think a latte a day would be bad for you- but that would be it for your "bad sugar." Fruit has sugar, it's less bad for you. Besides, it's either that or Advil for your headaches and I think your liver will like latte better. Just a thought.

And mom is right but she also can't follow her own "rules" half the time. So no worries. One brownie won't kill you. Just a taste. No more. It's better than depriving yourself then binging later.

True True. I guess I feel more guilty about paying for a latte a day instead of just having the free office coffee. Or making a pot of coffee at home.

I told Fritz we need to buy an espresso machine.

Just have to find a creamer you like and bring it work, put your name on it and use it to make crappy office coffee bearable. Cheaper. Not quite as tasty, but cheaper and you get your caffeine hit.

Oh so true. I am cursed by the same genes of loving sugar too, and craving it if I don't have any by lunchtime. My work diet experience has been the same as you. If someone isn't bringing in homemade red velvet cake, or have a birthday, a potluck, or an invitation to lunch somewhere.....or dangit you're having a rough day and you deserve that milkshake! You literally have to become a hermit in the office to avoid all temptations, and the "weirdo" that 'doesn't eat sweets'. And just the fact that I sit on my *ss all day to do my work doesn't help either. I've gained 12 lbs myself in the past 9 months, and now my goal weight is even further away (39 lbs!)
I'm actually planning on starting a new weight loss regime as well so I will be joining you in that quest!
I also don't blame you for not wanting the office coffee....I have compared my work's machine coffee to what turpentine might taste like. The stuff out of the drip pot is not so bad, and I do use some Almond Joy creamer to make it more bearable :) Still has sugar though...
If you can get used to the taste of sweet and low or stevia or something (it's hard I know, but I was there once), and order a nonfat latte and add a sweetener - it helps with that espresso/latte craving! And if you cut it down to 3 days a week, then 2 days a week, you might end up being ok with 1 per week and hot tea the rest of the days.
Fruit is the best sugar, and the only sugar we should have during the day, except at nighttime. Not to mentions the vitamins and antioxidants we get from them. I need to eat more of them...
Cleansing has been the best way for me to fight sugar cravings because I come out it just dying to eat a green bean or something!
I have read so much on sugar I cannot believe I still eat it....I think your title is appropriate
